Summary of Role:

GLOBALFOUNDRIES R&D is seeking highly skilled and motivated technician to become part of our R&D team working in Albany, New York.  This position will be required to perform wafer movement logistics (on-site and between the Albany, Malta, and East Fishkill sites) and assisting integration engineers with WIP management and SiView route setup ensuring that standard operational procedures are followed.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supporting Device & integration engineers with a variety of tasks including
  • Manage all wafer logistics for wafers moving between Fab-8 and Albany  ensuring standard protocols (wafer entry checks by TXRF, particle checks, shipping logistics, etc.) are followed.
  • Assist integration engineers with routine WIP management on SiView (MM) and route updates (SM).
  • Ensure that requests and execution are carried out in a timely manner.
  • Provide daily status reports, wSPC chart monitoring, trends, experimental or line down reports using Microsoft based applications, e.g., excel, word or office.
  • Identify and address potential areas for improvement, optimize tool throughput, uptime, utilization and cost of operation.
  • Able to make decisions based on obtained results and collect additional data if necessary.
  • Wafer inspection in cleanroom environment using various optical and SEM inline tools.
  • Use chip layout software to generate inspection reports and understand basic macro design.
  • Interface with PLY and metrology engineers/technicians for recipe optimization
  • Work closely with CNSE and IBM Operations team as lead GF wafer expeditor
  • Hands-on wafer data collection and data analysis.
  • Being able to promptly identify and resolve excursions with the engineering team.
  • Yield and inline correlation analysis for new and mature processes on various technology nodes.
  • Six-sigma and DoE experience a plus.
  • Perform all activities in a safe ad responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs


Required Qualifications:

  • 2 Year Technical/Associates Degree in Science, Math, Engineering, Semiconductor Manufacturing or a related discipline or equivalent military training experience
  • 5 years direct experience working in semiconductor wafer fab or related industry
  • Able to perform shift work on a 12 hours per day shift schedule
  • Able to work in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocol and requirements
  • Able to wear all required clean room protective clothing and equipment without restriction for normal 12 hour per day shift (excluding breaks)
  • Ability to perform work in a standing position for the majority of a 12 hour shift (excluding breaks)
  • Able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds on a periodic basis throughout the shift (preventive maintenance) and/or process issues
  • Language Fluency - Fluent in English Language - written & verbal
  • Ability to relocate to Albany, NY

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Industrial Engineering or related technical degree; with 3 years experience working in semiconductor wafer fab or related industry
  • Demonstrated technical skills and knowledge of semiconductor wafer test and test equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to operate computer and system interface programs to ensure appropriate computing and analysis of production information
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks and required documentation
  • Demonstrated work performance in an environment requiring high level of attention to detail and timeliness
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize activities.
  • Familiarity with patterning module (lithography and etch) is a plus
  • Familiarity with SiView (MM and SM) is a plus
  • IBM Alliance or CNSE experience is a plus.
  • Strong team player with ability to work well within a global team
