Lone Star College has deep relationships with local small and corporate business providing a highly trained workforce pool.  We offer a broad variety of tailor-made associate degree and non-credit technical certificates and courses to meet the needs of both under or unemployed job seekers and those who are already working professionals needing professional development to grow in their current position or receive professional CEUs. 

All technical courses and programs are offered in LSCS state-of-industry labs and classroom utilizing hands-on competency-based curriculum taught by instructors with real-world experience in the field in which they teach. In addition, Lone Star Corporate College, offers customized training for incumbent workers of primarily healthcare, oil/gas and manufacturing industries in technical skills, front-line supervision, and languages.

Position Summary

CE Instructors are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the District. LSCS accepts application material year-round from qualified applicants willing to teach on a part-time basis. CE Instructor hiring is based on student demand. We offer day, evening, and weekend classes. Classes are offered at various times and locations during the academic year. As a rule, CE Instructors may not work in excess of 19.5 hours each week. Applications submitted on-line are accessed and reviewed by hiring managers as the need to hire arises. There is normally no communication with part-time applicants unless they are selected for interview.

Job Functions

  1. Teaches language, literature, and/or culture courses. Teaching areas are: Spanish, French, Italian, Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, and German.

  2. Submits timely required college reports and forms.

  3. Develops and utilizes a course syllabus for each course following established institutional guidelines .

  4. Provides timely, quality access to students through electronic communication and other appropriate methods .

  5. Evaluates students by a variety of means to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs them in a timely manner of their progress

  6. Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community .

  7. Attends meetings, trainings and orientations as required.

  8. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of related work experience i n the desired teaching field.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to use oral proficiency methodology in classroom and native/near-native fluency

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service, and providing a dynamic climate for lifelong learning

Salary

$34.83 per contact hour (not to exceed 19.5 hours per week).

Work Schedule & Conditions

PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment.

Internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position.

Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards.
