Position Summary

Manages the set-up and day-to-day operations of the youth program at LSC-Tomball.

Job Functions

  1. Plans courses, plans curriculum and manages youth programs using the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) model. Discovery College will also include courses in art, fitness and nutrition and geography.

  2. Keeps informed of and evaluates major trends in youth programs.

  3. Maintains and implements activities consistent with the college and system strategic plans.

  4. Uses appropriate data and information to evaluate effectiveness of programs and makes recommendations for improvement.

  5. Maintains contact with CE Director and CE Program Coordinator providing reports and budget analysis as requested.

  6. Responsible for ongoing activities critical to the program such as instructor assignments and student recruitment.

  7. Recruits, hires, evaluate, and directly supervise adjunct faculty/instructors who teach in Discovery College.

  8. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.      

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher with at least 3 years of related experience OR  equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of degree.

  • Experience supervising staff.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to solve problems and prioritize own work.

  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision and maintain confidential information.

  • Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills and above average written and oral communication skills.

  • Knowledge and experience working in a youth program.

  • Knowledge of and ability to use PC and common office software.


$20.37 per hour (not to exceed 19.5 hours per week). 

Work Schedule & Conditions

Normal working hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30AM. - 5:30PM. (Position is Temporary)
