Job Description:

Investment Consultant

Overview:
 
 

  • Oversee and analyze existing Pacific Select Funds (PSF) and Pacific Funds (PF) Portfolios to ensure strategies are performing as expected, make recommendations to retain or terminate existing managers as warranted.
  • Conduct the manager search process to identify a new strategy / manager by managing all steps of the process and recommending finalists.
  • Generate portfolio construction recommendations through the analysis of underlying strategies and various market environments.
  • Support the compliance, legal and operational aspects of the Funds as well as the divisions achieve various initiatives.

 
Responsibilities:
 

 

  • Manager Research - Monitor portfolios on the PSF and PF platforms and deliver analysis to senior management, the PSF and PF Fund Boards, and other internal clients. Support divisions through supporting product development initiatives and marketing efforts via white papers, presentations, conference calls, etc.
  • Fund Board Advisor - Deliver analysis and investment updates to the Board of Trustees and executive management for each Board meeting including fund attribution analysis, performance summaries, new manager and product recommendation memos.
  • PLFA Managed Strategies - Key contributor to the portfolio construction process of the asset allocation portfolios. Also discuss portfolio exposures and share manager outlooks with individuals from asset allocation team.
  • Compliance / Legal / Operations Support - Provide the necessary support for PLFA's portfolios, fund managers, and asset allocation models needed to carry out PLFA's fund compliance responsibilities

 
Factors for Success:
 

 

  • 7+ years of relevant investment management experience required- variable annuity carrier, mutual fund company, or consulting. Asset management experience strongly preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of capital markets, investment concepts, with statistical / quantitative aptitude.
  • Ability to analyze investment companies, mutual funds, hedge funds, exchange traded funds, and other investments, both in isolation and within a portfolio.
  • Portfolio Management and/or asset allocation experience.
  • Strong analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills; Firm presence when interacting with senior-level investment professionals.
  • Decisive decision maker with ability to articulate rationale.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while working independently.
  • Clear and concise report and investment writing, with strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with various industry databases (Morningstar, Zephyr, Factset, Barra Risk Models, Evestment).
  • Specific experience with or knowledge of equities and hedge fund (non-40 act) strategies is a plus .
  • Experience with derivatives management is preferred..
  • CFA (or progress toward) or MBA preferred.
